Subject: Acceptance of the birth/death certificates issued through CRS application-reg.

1. The registration of births and deaths in India is being done under the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and corresponding rules made there under. The office of Registrar General of India has developed uniform software for Registration of Births and Deaths and issuance of certificates registered through the system. After implementing this software, the birth and death certificates are being issued through this software under the provisions of Section 12/17 of the RBD Act, 1969.

2. The certificates issued through the software which is accessible at ‘eolakh.gujarat.gov.In’ have unique registration number to each registered event across the country. These certificates are enabled with quick response (QR) code and the authenticity of the certificate can be verified from the website ‘crsorgi.gov.in’. These certificates of birth and death are legally valid document and may be considered as authentic proof for all Government as well as Non-Government purposes. The process of generation of birth/death certificate through the. application is as under:

The events reported by the informants are being registered by the registrars using their user id & password and after approval of the registrar, the certificates are being generated electronically and either manual or digital or facsimile signature of the issuing authority appears on the certificates. This certificate is being generated after checking the correctness of the records. The certificates thus generated will be made available in the public portal of the O/o RGI.”

3. All concerned departments of Central Governments and State Governments are requested to ensure that the certificates issued by the Registrars/Sub Registrars through the application are accepted, and not to insist for original certificates carrying manual signature of the issuing authority. All heads of Departments may bring this to the notice of their sub-offices for compliance.

Ahmedabad, Jun 8 (PTI) The Gujarat government on Wednesday announced that people can now register an “e-FIR” using the state home department’s website or mobile application to report theft of their vehicles or mobile phones.

People can now register an e-FIR from their homes using the state home department’s website or citizen portal “gujhome.gujarat.gov.in” or the “Citizen First Gujarat Police” mobile app, rather than going to a police station, according to an official.

Instead of visiting a police station, people can now register an e-FIR from their home through the citizen portal “gujhome.gujarat.gov.in” or through “Citizen First Gujarat Police” mobile app, an official said.

The facility is only available for cases, in which the accused are unidentified and there was no use of force, he said.

After uploading required details on the website or the app, complainants will be sent a confirmation through SMS and email, following which the application will be forwarded to the concerned police station, the official said.

A senior official of a police station will be required to assign the preliminary investigation to his subordinate officer within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, he said, adding that the complainant will be alerted through SMS once the probe is assigned.

The investigation officer will have to meet the complainant and verify the facts mentioned in the e-FIR within 48 hours and send his report to the police station in-charge, he said.

All new electors registered during special summary revision 2021 (i.e. those who applied during Nov-Dec2020) and whose mobile number provided while applying is unique will get an SMS and may download e-EPIC between January 25 and 31, 2021. Other general electors may download e-EPIC from February 1, 2021 onwards. (they will however not get any SMS).

The e-elector photo identity card is non-editable digital version of the elector photo identity card and it can be saved in facilities such as digital locker and can be printed in the PDF format, Election Commission officials said.

A digital version of the Elector Photo Identity Card can be accessed through the Voter Helpline App and websites https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and https://www.nvsp.in/.

Follow this Steps for Download e-EPIC Card
  • Voters can download e-EPIC from http://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ or https://nvsp.in/ or Voter Helpline or Mobile App using below steps:
  • Register/Login on Voter Portal
  • From menu navigation click on Download e-EPIC
  • Enter the EPIC number or Form Reference Number
  • Verify with OTP sent on registered mobile number (if mobile number registered with Eroll)
  • Click on Download e-EPIC
  • If Mobile number not registered in Eroll, click on e-KYC to complete the KYC
  • Pass the Face liveness verification
  • Update your mobile number to complete KYC
  • Download e-EPIC
